So I haven't updated you all on my life for over a week, and oh boy, what a week!!
Last friday I completed my final second year module for university. With all work and written assignments completed, as you can imagine I was feeling completely relieved!!! pheww... all done! - I'm so very proud of myself and my freinds for handing in on time. I don't think I could have done anymore than I did and will be happy whatever the result... I just need to start thinking about third year now haha!
Here are some photographs of some work that you haven't seen and also photographs of my studio set up. :)

This week, I also returned to work at the National Museums of Liverpool. I used to work in the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight (famous for its pre-raphaelite paintings collection e.g. Edward Coley Burne Jones' and Rosetti's) But I have started working at the Maritime Museum in Liverpool. I was a little aprehensive about starting back because I thought it would be like starting a new job; however, the Quayside Cafe is much quieter than the Lady Lever which makes the load a lot easier. plus I already have the knowledge and experience to perform my Job well, it was really just the staff that would be new to me, everything else is the same. I have discovered the staff are lovely, which makes me happy.
As a lot of you who read my blog know, we have booked my twin and I's 21st Birthday Party for the 11th of June! I am so excited. But I am also extremely disappointed that some of my freinds and family can't make it to the party. I have also spent the whole of the past two weeks searching for my Perfect Party Dress. I have literally looked in every shop in Birkenhead and Liverpool City Centre. I have 'settled' (yes, settled) for a nice white and black floral number from Pop Boutique, a Vintage Fashion shop in liverpool. Its not that I don't love the dress, because I do, its just that its something I'd wear to any night out. I kind of wanted something that was really special. But even looking in Designer shops and expensive High street Shops such as Debenhams and John Lewis but still not finding something, I thought the floral number would suit. I had a hell of a lot of fun searching for the dress though. My freind Daisy and I and my son Quinn spent 7 hours in liverpool; lunch, shopping, Cafe Nero stops, and playing! Can't Complain really.
I also went shopping in Liverpool again on Thursday with my friend Kerri. She introduced me to a traditional bookstore on London Road that I have never seen before. I bought myself a Book about William Morris and his whole collection of patterns (for just £7.50) I also Came accross a book of an Artist that I'd never seen before- Gustave Dore. With 190 illustrations inside. I lke his work because it is fantastical, I also like it because it's just in black ink. Possibly the reason for me liking Illustrative/Graphic work like this is because it reminds me of my dads old comic book works in fineliner, it is also a path that I have followed alot lately just using pens.

I have been trying to drift away from black ink drawings. I remember in sixth form college, my teachers constantly telling me to use colour haha. When I did start using colour, i discovered a completely expressive part of myself that I never knew I had. I had no clue who I was or what type of artist I wanted to be. but I feel that drawing with colour (drawing, not painting) has allowed me to express different features in my peices and also exactly what I see in my eyes. My current teachers always question why my paintings don't blend, and why I exaggerate colours, but it's simply, what I see. And I believe colour makes me unique. I don't want to be the next photorealist, but I wouldn't mind being the next photoexpressivist lol.
