On Thursday, I was delighted by how many people showed up to the private view of the ‘Studio 121’ Exhibition, prepared by my class mates and I. I was so proud of the friends and of myself for managing to present this wonderful exhibition.
Last week we were all chaotically running around our studio space trying to collect all our work to transport it over the Mersey, and now we have a complete exhibition, with artist statements etc...
My work is a surreal outlook on fashion. I wanted to explore the ideas of conventional beauty so much that I made it ugly. I simply created three collages from High fashion magazines using beautiful women as muses and beautiful designer outfits; you might be able to see references to Jean Paul Gaultier, Chanel and other magazine advertisements. From these collages I created large pen and ink drawings. I literally used different fine liner pens on each piece and each one took me around 10 hours to complete. Considering only two Tuesdays ago I had nothing to hang up in the exhibition I think I did very well haha.
Here is a photograph of me (after spending three hours getting ready, I might add!) in front of my paintings called
‘The Gorgon Sisters’ with a lovely little quote by a Mr Wilde of which I used in my Statement.
“No object is so beautiful that, under certain conditions, it will not look ugly.”
Oscar Wilde 1854-1900

The exhibition is being displayed until April the 3rd on the 5th floor gallery space of CUC, Greenland Street and Liverpool. Please feel free to go and visit!
Last night was brilliant too as I went to see Katy Perry at Liverpool Echo Arena, the woman must’ve done at least 16 outfit changes but it was fantastic... her voice is literally immense! She also did an acoustic version of ‘Thinking of You’ which was absolutely beautiful that is my favourite song off of Katy’s first album. She also sang a beautiful version of ‘Pearl’ off her new album; I wasn’t overly keen on this song to begin with, as I find it slightly whiney (sorry Katy, I love you) but the performance was excellent; there were two Trapeze dancers behind her gliding and swirling together completely synchronised. Definitely one of the best Gigs I have ever been to, almost as good as P!nk, minus the tears.
The support act, ‘Yelle’, weren’t too bad either; I will definitely be purchasing their album. They’re a trio from France with a female vocalist, a male drummer and a male keyboardist, for such a small amount of instruments they create an amazing sound.
