I'm trying to find a way to develop my work a little further.
I came across an artist named Alicia Paz. Her Art deals with similar issues to mine... but in a completely different way.
She still uses the female form to develop her ideas on personal identity and expression but her work is somewhat fantastical rather than figuratively abstract.
It is beautiful.
Likening her bodies to Alien creatures, she references to previous artists’ work such as Roy Lichtenstien and Salvador Dali. She mainly uses Paint in her work but combines it with a collage appearance.
Her work is so imaginative it appears childlike (but in a good way!) She uses toy like creatures to represent the female body, with a glamorously painted face.
She also uses obviously feminine aesthetics to produce these paintings, such as her collage with the use of buttons, high contrast of colour and curvaceous smooth lines of the body.
